Welcome

Postby Don Schuler on Thu Oct 09, 2008 1:09 am

Hello everyone and welcome to the Arkansas Wrestling Message Board. Our main purpose in putting this board together was to help the coaches and wrestlers in Arkansas to get out information and to get questions answered in a fast easy way. Coaches can not only chat with each other, they can also get out other information such as: openings in tournaments, open dates, job openings, used equipment for sale, questions , etc. The general discussions board is for everybody who follows wrestling, wrestlers, coaches, parents, and fans. The coaches and athletes board should be inhabited primarily by those groups. We are going to keep a close watch on the board so that it doesnt devolve into non-polite topics or language. Please repect one another. We don't want to squelch everything, but calling out wrestlers from other schools or harping on referees can be counterproductive. Have fun and I hope that this will be another useful tool in our arsenal.

Wrestle hard,

Don Schuler

Thank you misterschuler. I personaly believe that forums are an excellent tool. They alow us, as wrestlers, to see where you are from completely unbiased, objective stand points. They also allow choaches to get information quick and allow other states to converse with Arkansas Wrestling as awhole. this may seem like a small thing but it is going to be a big part of bridging the gap between "oh it's just Team Arkansas" and "yeah, those kids can really hold there own."

So to get any random conversation started, how do you believe that Bentonville and the other NWA schools will contend in MISSOURI AND OKLAHOMA?
(this question is open to anyone.)

In my opinion the only way to gain respectability is to seek out the best competition, this starts at the youth level. It seems so far that you guys are doing a pretty good job so far, we saw alot of Arkansas kids at Missouri tournys last year and they had a good number of them at Neosho's youth tourny this year. Just something to keep in mind, alot of open tournys have novice tournys the following day and if your kids are first or second year wrestlers they can participate. For the older kids who are just starting out going to these is a great chance to get them some mat time with kids that are at the same experience level. I know from experience with my own son and daughter(who did start late) that a lil success can go along way in keeping them interested in this great sport and can give them the confidence to keep hammering away it. Those of us in Missouri are glad to see wrestling taking a hold down in Arkansas and we are cheering for you guys to become a power state just as your neighbors to the north and west are. If anyone down there ever needs any questions answered or help finding summer camps I can usually be found at missouriusawrestling.org.
