Next State Champs?

Never did i say anything against Conklin's feat. It truly is amazing. However i am very saddened that the first three time state champion is Cody. Not due to his wrestling though, in that sense he deserves it more than anybody else. I am saddened because of the way he acts off the mat. A true champion is someone who has to be asked about their success, not someone who wears it on their chest and makes sure everybody knows. Wrestling is such a great sport because it teaches discipline, humility, and respect among several others. Cody seems to lack all of the above. I have met a couple of Olympic medalists and one thing that is ever present in all of them is that they are all humble. When John Smith won his gold medal the last thing you would ever see in the paper the next day would be a quote like " ..I don't mean to brag but iv been whooped before and i wasn't going to let that happen..." You would never see Dan Gable sign an already arrogant post on a forum with "3peat". And as for discipline, I don't even need to argue that one, We all know you didn't commit this year like the rest of your team did.
Your a great athlete Cody, but by my definition of a great wrestler, you surely are not one. My definition of a great wrestler is someone who win or lose and both off and on the mat conducts himself in a way that echoes the life teachings of the sport.

catholic, your definition of a champion is exactly true.

First, your attitude toward Cody may be, ever so slightly, merited and justifiable from your perspective.
I'm not going to try and tell you that Cody is not cocky at times, we all are.
However, you have not seen the dramatic transformation that i have seen.
Cody, Unlike some of his competitors, did not make a single post on this board until after he took care of business on the mat.
He refused to say anything about the previouse trash talk when he did.
He defended his stance. He defended his right to a title wich, by the way, he deserved.
I had been labled the best wrestler in the state and that is simply not true.
I cannot wrestle to my full potential due to my health but even if i could i would not be as good as Cody.
Cody is an enourmousely talented individual and he did pull it together before state.
His lifestyle and mine do not at all agree with each other.
Cody [b]HAS[b] done things that would not exactly fit my own personal moral standard, that of his teamates, and that of other arkansas wrestlers; however, Cody has straightened up. He is learning his own life lessons and doesn't need your help learning them.
I think that has been made apparent by his being the bigger man on and off the mat starting with last weekend.

Secondly, Drew Coble deserved a state title more than anyone out there this year.
He worked his butt off for it.
He did beat CAppy twice before that match.
what mr. Schular said about cappy leading with his head is completely true. Watch the tape.
That was not Drew's fault and i think that was apparent by the way that he handled himself after the match.
He and Cappy both teared up after Cappy returned.
If he had cheated, like some certain other individuald who are not being personaly attacked because and only because they do not go to Bentonville, then he would not have been able to look at Cappy, yet alone have an emotional embrasse with him.

I congradulate all of the state champions this year. They all, with the exeption of only one or two, really worked for it.
:)

catholic.. i guess i can agree with the lack of discipline for the beginning of the year...but humility and respect? i may lack some times... but just like caleb said, who doesnt? I put 3peat at the end of the post simply because we won state... not trying to rub it in, i do have teamates on the forum and everything i say is not always aimed at you or dexter. Give me some actual examples of the humility, and respect, also about me wearing it on my chest and making sure everybody knows. once again not being sarcastic id just like to know so i could change it in the future

I feel loved. Other than that, there's really nothing else to say on this post.

Next season should be fun, I wonder if every team will commit this off-season and work hard. It will be interesting to see how the programs turn-out.
